Rainstorm destroys 100 houses in Jigawa

Over one hundred houses have been destroyed by heavy rainstorm in Gumel local government of Jigawa state.
The council chairman, Alhaji Aminu Sani, who disclosed this yesterday while conducting officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) round the affected areas, said no life was lost in the flood.
His words: “We thank Almighty Allah that no life was lost in the unfortunate disaster that swept away houses and some farm lands in the affected area.”
The chairman, who was represented by his deputy, Malam Yunusa Habu Duhuwa, said Dantanoma quarters was the most affected community in the local government.
He thanked the federal and state governments for the concern shown to the victims.
Earlier, the head of NEMA team, Alhaji Aliyu Muhammad, said they were in the local government to assess the level of damage done as a result of the disaster.
He then assured that the federal government will sent the necessary relief materials to ease the sufferings of victims of the flood
