Police recover 4 rifles, ammunition in Bauchi

To mop up illegal firearms and maintain public safety and security, police operatives in Bauchi state have recovered four unlicensed guns dumped in a polythene bag in the Ningi area of the state.

The firearms, hidden underground near River Chika-Chika, were not immediately traced to an individual or group. However, communities in Ningi local government area have recently come under attacks by armed men.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Bauchi Police Command, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, said a suspicious polythene bag was sighted near River Chika-Chika, and police operatives cordoned off the area and recovered the assorted firearms.

“Three AK47 rifles, one AK49 rifle, and nine empty magazines were recovered.

“The wider the trust and information-sharing gap between the Police and the citizens, the more we, as a people, inadvertently empower criminal elements to succeed in their evil plan to threaten our value for peace and security,” he said. (Premium Times)
