Plateau pilgrims board refunds N23.9m

 

Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, has commenced the refund of N23.9m to the 2017 pilgrims, the board acting executive secretary, Zakari Haruna, has said.

He said in a press statement that the refunds commenced on Thursday at the board office in Jos.

It said: “N23, 934,388.65 is to be refunded to the 2017 pilgrims for service not rendered,” adding that: “a total of 1,121 pilgrims that perform the 2017 hajj will receive the sum of N12, 500 each as refund, two pilgrims who could not perform the 2017 pilgrimage, over payment and Bank charges amounted to N9, 775,684.75 that bring the total amount stated above.”

The statement said each pilgrim was to present his e-passport and a photocopy of visa page as evidence for collection.

“Pilgrims are therefore advice to come with their e-passport and a photocopy of visa page as evidence for collection,” it said.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), had made an earlier refunds, to some states, which Plateau State got N23.9m.
