Peace, not confrontation can actualise FCT ministerial slot – Group

The Oodua Justice Forum for All Initiative (OJFFAI) has thrown its weight behind Monday’s sponsored advertorial by the chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu Candido in which he called for calm, understanding and peaceful mode devoid of confrontation in the agitation for the appointment of a native as minister of the federal government.

This call was made by the group’s north central coordinator, Moruf Ajisafe during deliberation and analysis on the chairman’s advertorial.

He said the chairman’s politics is not based on religion, tribe or regional sentiments adding that he was absolutely right. He said he can defend this based on the statement issued by both the Senator representing the FCT and the House of Representatives member representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency who are both Gbagyi.

“How come it is only these two from same tribe and party that choose to be at the forefront of this agitation without having course to carry other tribes like Bassa, Ganagana, Gade, Igbira and Gwandara along?

“Secondly, FCT is home for all and centre of unity. I appeal to other Nigerians to join and beg the president to forgive the FCT political family.  This is necessary because the FCT people did not cast their votes for the president, the APC Senatorial candidate and the two federal constituency candidates. So, what are we talking about? Above all, other previous administrations from 1999 ignored the call for the appointment of FCT native as a member of the Federal Executive Council.

The group asked further, “how come some unpatriotic, disgruntled and undesirable elements are giving the chairman’s presentation different meaning?”

The chairman was also right to have emphasised that the North-central geopolitical zone’s support is key to the actualisation.

“In a political terrain like ours, no territory or state can survive in isolation. The supreme Military Council (SMC) led by then Maj.-Gen Buhari as stated by the chairman turned development areas to full fledge local governments. It is therefore not right to malign the reputation of President Muhammadu Buhari’s adherence to constitutional provisions,” the group said.
