PDP to Akpabio, APC: Perish thought of taking over Akwa Ibom

Against the backdrop of ‘Take over’ threat issued by the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom state, the party has fired back on Wednesday.

PDP specifically warned Akpabio to perish the thought.

The lawmaker had at a political gathering recently reportedly stated that his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) will take over control of Akwa Ibom state in 2027.

However, in a statement made available to Blueprint on Wednesday by the party National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the main opposition party said the scheme to use false claims and inciting comments to destabilise the state has already failed.

The party in the statement further counseled the Senate President to come to terms with the fact that the people of Akwa Ibom state are firmly rooted in the PDP.

The party spokesman boasted that the people of the state cannot be swayed by any incitement or use of propaganda.

The PDP has therefore urged the people of the state to disregard Senator Akpabio’s antics and remain united in their determination to continue to build their state under the banner of the PDP.

It reads in part: “The boast by Senator Akpabio to take over Akwa Ibom State in 2027 is not only pathetically empty but further exposes his level of arrogance and disdain for the sensibility, intelligence, democratic right and sovereignty of the people of Akwa Ibom State.”
