PDP NEC, woman leader advocate sanctions against erring members 

The National Executive Council (NEC), of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been urged to wage stiffer sanctions on any erring member of the party.

Hajiya Nafisa Oma, chairperson Nasara Foundation, of the Peoples Democratic Party (NF-PDP), advocated for the sanction in a statement on Sunday in Jos, ahead of the planned meeting of the PDP’s NEC.

She said as the party’s forthcoming National Executive Council meeting holds, members needed to allow for 

peaceful and decorous conduct of the  NEC meeting.

She said it was timely and  apt for the party to put its house in good order, that would make more vibrant checkmating of the ruling party for the betterment of the country.

Hajiya Nafisa said the party had had its difficult times before, during and after the general elections, and now was a better time to sincerely work for the strengthening of the party.

“It is our firm view that the success of the NEC, will surely lead to the fixing of any perceived wrongs, so that the party would wax stronger than obtainable.

“We are also of the view that any person or persons found to have worked or are working against party ideas, and core values should be sanctioned outrightly.

She said as the PDP was set for the conduct of NEC, to discuss myriad of issue bothering it, it was time and apt to appeal to all party men and women to give out their best at advancing the core values of the party.

“This we only can archive through peaceful conduct and decorum,” she said.

The PDP chieftain, further called for more women inclusion into the National Working Committee positions of the party.

“We are of the firm view that the party should consider ceding more positions, beyond just women leader, but more seats like organising secretary and assistant national secretary, thereby including more women into the National Working Committee (NWC),” she said.
