PDP governors task INEC on neutrality in Bayelsa, Kogi, Imo guber

The governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have resolved to work together.

The governors made this known at the end of the PDP Governors Forum meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday.

Chairman of the Forum and Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed, who read the communiqué, also noted the state of insecurity in parts of the country and urged the federal government and security agencies to bring the situation under control.

Reading the communiqué, Governor Bala stated: “The meeting advised the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the security agencies, and the Federal Government to be neutral in the conduct of the off-season elections in Bayelsa, Kogi and Imo States.

“The meeting noted the deteriorating security situation in the country, especially the wanton destruction of lives and properties in Plateau and Zamfara states amongst other states. The meeting consequently advised the Federal Government and security agencies to rise to the situation and bring the situation under control.

“In the interim, the Forum would cooperate with the Federal Government on issues concerning the welfare of Nigerians and good governance while striving to maintain the independence and autonomy of the Forum through offering constructive criticisms where necessary.

Those who attended the meeting include: Gov. Bassey Umo Eno, Akwa Ibom State, Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Adamawa state, Gov. Sen. Douye Diri -Bayelsa state, Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori, Delta, Gov. Peter Mbah, Enugu, Gov. Caleb Mutfwang Plateau, Gov. Ademola Adeleke,Osun, Gov. Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, Oyo, Gov. Godwin Obaseki, Edo, Gov. Kefas Agbu, Taraba and Gov. Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state.
