The government of Thailand has commended the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) for mounting a vigorous fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in Nigeria.
The Thailand said that the NDLEA efforts in fighting against substance of illicit drugs is a development that has impacted positively on the image of Nigeria in the international community.
Thailand, while giving commendation through the Deputy Head of Mission of the Royal Thai Embassy in Nigeria, Mr. Kriwat Pharmorabuta, accompanied by a counselor, Mr. Perapol Berananda, during a courtesy visit to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), in Abuja, stated that the NDLEA under the leadership Maruwa in the last three years have provided significant milestone in the fight against illicit drugs and substances in Nigeria and beyond.
“I have good news that I received as we speak that before we were around, about 800 prisoners from Nigeria in Thailand prisons and right now, the number has decreased greatly to less than 200 and that means it is very difficult for anyone now to get out with the drugs. So, I congratulate you and Nigerian people.
“I feel pleased because I’m a diplomat in Nigeria and I love not only my country, I love also Nigeria because Nigeria is my second home. So, when I receive good news like this,k I feel very happy.” Pharmorabuta said.
