Obasanjo commissions Adamawa flyover, applauds Fintiri

As part of activities marking Gov. Fintiri’s five year in office, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has commissioned the police round about flyover and underpass constructed by his administration.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony Wednesday in Yola, former President Obasanjo who was the special guest of honour applauded Gov. Fintiri for his infrastructural ‘wonders’ in Adamawa state, saying that he is doing well.

While urging other governors to emulate him, the former president noted that since the first bridge in Numan and Yola was constructed over 30 years ago, he never expected that he will  in his life time  witness the construction of another flyover bridge and underpass  in Adamawa state.

He urged the governor not to allow the antics of his detractors and cynics to distract him from his development focus and vision  for the people, adding that any project that did not attract criticism and condemnation from opposition elements is not worth embarking upon.

He said there is the need for the administration to also give attention to rural development and tackle the security challenges bedeviling rural communities in the state, adding that he considers himself a proud son of Adamawa, not only because of numerous friends he has in the state, but also because his prison experience impacted on his life and during his presidency.

On his part, Gov. Fintiri said the project is one of the projects delivered by his administration’s Urban Renewal campaign,  aimed at raising the standard of the state capital to attract investors and improve the infrastructural status of both urban and rural areas.

He said when he started the project, opposition elements in the state accused him of digging holes in the state capital, but when the project started taking shape, they shifted their criticism of the project to misplacement of priority.
