PDP convention: Daniel woos Northern delegates

By Najib Sani, Bauchi

Former Governor of Osun State and one of eight aspirants for the position of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman, Otunba Benga Daniel, has pleaded with delegates from Bauchi, Gombe and Plateau states to line behind for the job.

Speaking in Bauchi, at the party’s secretariat, Daniel said he was there to interact with the delegates in the state ‘because every party member is important’ towards his aspiration.

He promised to be fair to all PDP stalwarts across the country if elected ‘so that everybody’ would work vigorously towards strengthening the party to take over power come 2019.

Also, he appealed to members, who defected from the party as a result of internal crisis, to come back noting that the burning issues would soon be resolved after the forthcoming convention.

Daniel also alleged that since the inception of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) government in 2015 at the federal and some states, they have been witch-hunting opposition members through detentions and arrests ‘with a view to silencing them from constructive criticisms which is essential in democracy’.

According to him, the present APC administrations nationwide have performed below expectations since their taking over two years ago claiming that only few projects were commissioned by them in some states and nothing was done in other places like Bauchi.

‘’PDP remains the most principled and formidable party in Nigeria that is determined to enlighten the electorates continuously on the happenings in the country. And we are very optimistic that come 2019, we will bounce back because the APC government has failed woefully’’, he alleged.
