General Manager, Osun state Water Corporation, Engr. Gbenga Awojuyigbe, has said that paucity of funds was responsible for the inadequate supply of water by the Corporation.
Awojuyigbe stated this yesterday during a chat with our correspondent in Osogbo, the Osun state capital.
According to the water corporation boss, some of the proposal submitted for the upgrading of pipeline was not attended to by the government due to paucity of funds in the state.
He explained that the ongoing road projects embarked upon by Governor Rauf Aregbesola had affected water supply in some areas of the state.

He said: “It is true that some communities are not getting water because of the ongoing construction of roads in the state. I want to tell you that we have provided ‘Wet-duct’ to serve as alternative for people in the affected areas.
“With the available wet-duct provided along the roads, people can connect their pipe and get water to their houses. We did it on each side because we don’t want pipeline to cross the road.”
He also debunked allegation that some communities did not have access to water in the last four months, saying “we have challenges in some communities about a month ago and we are making serious efforts to settle it.”

Awojuyigbe also blamed inadequate supply of water on the refusal of some people to pay for the services they enjoyed in Water Corporation.
“We equally want to appeal to our people to pay their water bills because government cannot do everything. If government is trying to let us live comfortably, we should also support government to succeed,” he said.
He, however, promised to put more effort towards ensuring adequate supply of water to all houses in the state.
He called on the people of the state to ensure cordial relationship with the Corporation with a view to working together for the success of the present administration.
