Osinbajo inaugurates O’Yes volunteers

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo Saturday inaugurated the 4th batch of Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (O’Yes).
The vice president commended Governor Rauf Aregbesola for the initiative, saying that the programme has been extended to all the states in the country.
“We now have 500,000 volunteers of N-Power in all the local government areas of the country.
They are doing different types of things, teaching, involved in agriculture among others,” Osinbajo stated.
He charged the new O’Yes volunteers to be more committed to the development of the state, adding: “This country belongs to you.
I’ve seen your commitment and I’m sure that you are the leaders of today.
We are looking forward to your greatness.” However, Governor Aregbesola arrived the stadium at 5.40 pm after many guests had left the venue.
The O’Yes cadet had stood in the sun since morning, and could not leave, even despite the heavy rain that lasted for almost 30 minutes.
Governor Aregbesola had recruited 20,000 O’Yes cadets in the first 100 days of his administration as part of his electioneering campaign.
He had also recruited another 20,000 after the two years expiration of the first batch.
In his speech titled “O’Yes: From Glory to Glory”, Aregbesola said his administration had provided employment for many youths despite the financial challenges he faced.
He said O’Yes has impacted positively on Osun, noting that the scheme has made Osun to join the state with the least crime rate in the country.
He assured that the new volunteers will be given soft landing, boasting “I recommended O’Yes to the federal government and it was adopted hence the recruitment of the N-Power.
