Onyeka to miss Super Eagles cracker against Mali

AFCON 2023: CAF Names Frank Onyeka Best Tackler

Super Eagles midfielder, Frank Onyeka, will play no part in today’s friendly against Mali due to injury and has since returned to England for further assessment of the injury.

The Brentford midfielder sustained an unspecified injury in Nigeria’s 2-1 friendly victory against the Black Stars of Ghana in Marrakech, Morocco last Friday.

The defensive midfielder played the entire 90 minutes of the game.

The 26-year-old travelled to England alongside Calvin Bassey, who has also been ruled out of the game due to injury.

Bassey was an unused substitute against the Black Stars.

Onyeka was rated highly by the Confederation of Africaine Football as the best tackler during the just concluded AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.
