NSCDC to deploy 2,800 personnel for Saturday’s Oyo LGs polls – Commandant

Oyo state Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) CC Iskilu Akinsanya on Tuesday disclosed that the command would deploy 2,800 of its personnel for this Saturday local government election in the state.

Corp Commandant Akinsanya made this known at the State Command Headquarters Agodi Ibadan, during a security briefing with all Divisional Officers across the state

The Commandant directed all officers and men of the Corps to be on duty on the Election Day as undercover officers while the Agro Ranger and Counter terrorism Unit of the Corps will be deployed to all flash spots in the state. 

He charged officers and men of the Corps that will work in 3,886 wards and 4,783 polling booths in the state to abide by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) election guidelines and be good ambassador of NSCDC. 

Akinsanya while enjoining traditional rulers, Baales, community leaders, religious leaders and landlords association to warn their subject to conduct themselves in a manner that would not bring violence in their vicinity, tasked the people of the state to support the government by participating without fear as the Corps is fully ready to protect lives and properties of the residents of the state. 

Assuring that Oyo NSCDC command and other Security agencies are ready to deal decisively with anyone attempting to breach the peace in the state during and after the local government election, he  enjoined the voters to observe COVID-19 protocol during the election and  conduct themselves in an orderly and peaceful manner during and after the election
