NRM Reps candidate rejects Kaduna LG election over ‘irregularities’

Candidate of Nigeria Rescue Movement (NRM) for Kaduna South Federal Constituency, Hajiya Zainab Saka Yusuf, has rejected the election results for the local government over alleged irregularities.

According to her, the results presented at INEC’s collation centre for Kaduna South local government was not the true reflection of what transpired at the polling units because, the figures did not tally with what she had from her agents in the field.
Speaking to newsmen in Kaduna on Monday during a review meeting of Stop Violence Against Women In Politics (VAWIP) campaign by LEADS-Nigeria, she raised concerns over the results of four out of the 13 wards in Kaduna South local government area particularly ward 3, 6, 8 and 10 where she claimed to have evidence of irregularities.

Hear her, “we reject the results of the election in Kaduna South local government because we did not sign the result sheet due to so much irregularities we saw during the election even though I was compelled to sign it which I rejected. I did not sign and they have announced it.
“We are not going to accept that result because there was no any information on card reader for the senate and house of reps but there was for the presidential. I was shocked that women could collect N50 and N100 to sell their conscience for four years.

“Also, there was no information on total number of accredited voters in many of the polling units in our LG and only APC agent was assisting the INEC in an election APC is participating. Most of the results at hand did not tally with what was announced. So, they should allow us to recount the ballots one-by-one,” she requested.

Lending credence to the development, her Coordinator, Malam Ismail Sani alleged that, “APC agent was the one doing the reconciliation for INEC outside the schedule venue for the reconciliation.
“We are very sure we got more than what we saw. We want the ballots to be recounted. We also have issue of vote buying. They were giving women as little as N50 and N100. We want a recount because results announced was not the real result of what we saw.”
