As recommended by the Committee , the Senate at the Committee of the whole, confirmed the nomination of Nasir Isa Kwarra from Nasarawa state as the Chairman of the Commission .

Others confirmed as National Commissioners are Ibrahim Mohammed from Bauchi state , Ajayi Ayodele Sunday from Ekiti state , Hon Joseph Kwali Shazin from FCT,  Garba Zakar K/Hausa from Jigawa state and Hon Bala Almu Banye from Katsina state .

Also confirmed as  NPC National Commissioners are Gidado Razak Folorunso from Kwara state, Mrs Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin from Lagos state, Ali Silas Agara from Nasarawa state, Mohammed Abdullahi Dattijo from Sokoto state, Mai Aliyu Mohammed from Yobe state and Muhammad Muttaka Rini from Zamfara state .

After the confirmations, the President of the Senate in his remarks, tasked the new appointees to ensure conduct of National Census , since the figure of 120 million recorded for the country in 2006 is no longer reliable for thorough planning by government in terms of equitable distribution of resources and development

“The various figures being quoted now as population of the country are by estimation and not proper head count which is needed for accuracy in planning .

“So we expect this new team to hit the ground running towards required head count exercise in the country for more reliable population figures in the country”, he said.
