NNL to adopt abridge league for 2022/23 season

 Nigeria Football Federation president, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau has charged the secretariat of the Nigeria National League to urgently work out modalities to commence the 2022/2023 new season.

He directed that in order to meet with set out football calendar, the Nigeria National League must be concluded in the month of May, 2023.

The meeting therefore, agreed to adopt the Abridge League format, with proper consideration to proximity of clubs.

The NFF warned all clubs to eschew conducts that are inimical to the smooth operations of the league, while strongly noting that strict adherance to the rule books is key and will be no accommodation for any form of conduct or attempts that will bring the game of football to disrepute.

The Nigeria Football Federation assured the League of it’s full support, while promising to assist the League to secure credible sponsors.

The NFF admonished the NNL Secretariat to as a matter of immediate urgency consider a thorough review of registration fees for the 2022/2023 league season in order to facilitate early resumption of the league.

The meeting agreed that only clubs that meet the NNL club licensing regulations would be allowed to register in the 2022/2023 League season.

It also agreed that only venues that pass the NNL stadium facilities criteria will be approved to host NNL league matches.

Furtherance to this, the NNL Secretariat was directed to commence stadium facilities inspection immediately.

The Nigeria Football Federation requested for complete scrutiny and understanding of the rules and regulations of the Nigeria National League to accommodate more stringent measures.
