NLC ommends appointment of Aremu as MINILS boss

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has commended the appointment of its former Vice President, Comrade Issa Aremu as Director General and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Ilorin, Kwara state.

While congratulating him, the congress tasked Comrade Aremu, to use his great experience and expertise to occasion a turnaround of the MINILS to better play its role as a foremost institute for industrial relations.

In a letter signed by NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, the congress said Aremu’s appointment by President Mihammadu Buhari was a honour to the Labour movement.

It said: “There is no doubt that this appointment is an honour to the Nigerian Labour movement and an acknowledgement of your contributions to the development of industrial relations in Nigeria.

“Our expectations for you in your new assignment are huge. We expect that you use your great experience and expertise to occasion a turn around of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies to better play its role as a foremost institute for industrial relations.”

Aremu has been a notable trade unionist who rose through the ranks in the trade union hierarchy in Nigeria.

He was general secretary of textile workers union from where he became the NLC vice president.

He took over as the secretary of the textile union from former NLC President, Adams Oshiomhole
