Nigeria rakes in N6.11b from NGL lifting

Nigeria earned about $38.19 million, about N6.11 billion from the lifting of 132,224 metric tonnes, MT, (about 966,822 barrels) of Natural Gas Liquid, NGL, in May 2014, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has said.
The NNPC, in its monthly petroleum information for May 2014, said the amount lifted was in spite of total NGL production of 140,780 MT. The price of NGL in the international market is about $39.5 per barrel.
Giving a breakdown of NGL production and lifting, the NNPC said a total of 51,210 MT of propane was produced in the period while 45,685MT was lifted.
The quantity of butane produced was put at 54,304 MT while 61,534 MT was lifted; just as about 35.266 MT of pentane was produced while 25,005 MT was lifted.

In addition, the report listed Mobil and the NNPC as the only producers and lifters of the products in the period under review.
Specifically, Mobil produced a total of 71,798 MT of NGL, broken down into propane – 26,117 MT; butane – 27,695 MT; and pentane 17,986 MT.
NNPC on the other hand produced 68.982 MT, broken down into: propane – 25,093 MT; butane – 26,609 MT; and pentane – 17,280 MT.
In the area of lifting, Mobil lifted a total of 80,190 MT of NGL, broken down into propane – 23,659 MT; butane – 31,526 MT and pentane – 25,005 MT.
On the other hand, NNPC lifted 52.034 MT of NGL, broken down into propane – 22,026 MT, and butane – 30,008 MT.
Continuing, the NNPC put total production of natural gas at 209.10 billion Standard Cubic Feet, SCF, lower than April’s production of 192.97 billion SCF, while 9.43 per cent of total production was flared.
…looses N78bn to crude, petroleum products theft

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has revealed that the country lost about N77.87b worth of crude oil and other petroleum products in 2013.

Of these line breaks, the NNPC said about 3,505 were as a result of vandalism, while 65 cases were due to system deterioration resulting in a loss of 327,480MT of petroleum products worth about N38.88 billion.
In addition, the NNPC said, “2.31 million barrels of crude oil worth about N38.992 billion were lost in the same period. There were 34 cases of fire incidents during the year under review.”
Specifically, the report showed that efforts at curbing crude theft have started to yield positive results, as the amount of oil stolen from pipelines in the period under review dropped by 40.75 per cent or N26.82 billion from N65.812 billion recorded in 2012.
