Nigeria imports 5.32n litres of petrol in Q4 2018

Data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has revealed that 5.32 billion litres of premium motor spirits (PMS) was imported into the country in fourth quarter of 2018.

In its Petroleum Products Import and Consumption Statistics for Q4 2018, the statistics bureau stated that 1.30 billion litres of automotive gas oil (AGO), 114.19 million litres of Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK), 267.80 million litres of Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK), 50.73 million litres of base oil, 42.38 million litres of bitumen, 10.63 million litres of low pour fuel oil (LPFO) and 331.78 million litres of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) were imported  


The NBS further said that for the period under review, 17 billion litres of petrol and 1.16 billion litres of diesel was distributed nationwide.

Furthermore, 581.12 million litres of household kerosene (HHK), 256.73 million litres of aviation turbine kerosene (ATK) and 137.53 million of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) were distributed nationwide in the last quarter of 2018.

Meanwhile, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board received a total of 1,653,127 in 2018 as against 1,722,269 applications received in 2017,

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in its JAMB applications and admitted candidates by state and gender within faculty in 2017-2018, the figure represents 4.01 per cent drop in comparison to the total applications received in 2017.


Similarly, the total number of candidates admitted in 2018 was 549,763 candidates as against 566,719 admitted candidates in 2017. The fall in total admitted candidates in 2018 is about 2.99 per cent compared to the total admitted candidates in 2017.


Further breakdown showed that 902,176 applications of the total applications received in 2018 were from male applicants while 750,951 applications received were from female applicants. 


In 2017, however, 952,436 of the total applications received for that year were from male applicants while the remaining 769,833 applications received were from female applicants.


In 2018, 302,183 male candidates were admitted as against 315,678 male candidates admitted in 2017 while 247,580 female candidates were admitted in 2018 as against 251,041 female candidates admitted in 2017.
