Nigeria Decides: Gowon commends Nigerians, INEC

Former head of state Yakubu Gowon has commended Nigerians for their orderliness and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for smooth electoral process.

Gowon who made the commendation while observing the exercise at Polling Unit, 027 Model Secondary School, Maitama, Abuja disclosed that the election was peaceful in all the places he visited.

He said, “In some places it has been smooth, In some places where the number is overwhelming, some persons are still trying to vote.

On the challenges he observed, the former head of state said, “There are some issues around the use of card reader.

“But otherwise so far so good Nigerians are making me feel proud at least around FCT, I hope is so all over, he said.

Meanwhile counting has started at the Polling Unit, 027 at about 3: 25 pm, as electorate gathered to observe the counting.

Other observers around include: Commonwealth Observer Group led by, Jakaya Kikwete, former President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Foreign Observers and African Union Observers.
