Niger APC quashes alleged suspension of Jinkatoro

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger state has quashed the purported suspension of state chairman, Honourable Haliru Zakari Jikantoro, by his ward.

The party said it is an effort in futility

The State Working Committee of APC, Niger state chapter, in a press statement in Minna weekend debunked the suspension of Haliru Zakari Jikantoro by his ward executives in Kashini Ward of Agwara local government area of the state.

The party in a statement issued by its publicity secretary, Musa D. Sarrkinkaji, nullified the suspension letter by the ward executives describing it as the handwork of opposition party, the PDP.

“The state executive committee of the party described the purported suspension as callous, heartless and figment of the imagination of the peddlers and efforts in futility by detractors, especially by members of the opposition party, the PDP,” the spokesman said.

He argued that the opposition party has embarked on futile attempts to divide APC in the state after PDP’s poor performance in the February 25th Presidential and National Assembly elections.

He said, “Based on the party’s constitution in Article 21, the suspension of a member of the state executive and of high esteem of the state chairman Jikantoro  must be channeled through the LGA party office, zonal and state Working Committee for rectification after due consultation. This due process was not done. Therefore the exercise is null and void and of no effect.”

Also in a separate reaction,  the state secretary of the party,   Khaleel Ibrahim, said the mastermind of the suspension claim are stooges of the opposition within the party positioned to distract members of the APC from focusing on the forthcoming gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.

He said, “No matter their antics and plots, we will remain focused, resolute and work very hard to win the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.”
