Kogi: Lokoja residents bemoan rate of abductions, call for CP’s removal 


Residents of Lokoja, Kogi state, have raised alarm over the rising spate of kidnapping in residential houses in a broad daylight in the state capital.


Speaking on the incessant kidnaping incidences on Monday in Lokoja, Mallam Usman Adamu, a resident of Adankolo new layout, Lokoja, lamented that two weeks ago, an Igbo woman was kidnapped in her house at Adankolo  around 5:30pm  by unknown gunmen  but regained  freedom after paying an undisclosed ransom.


He stated that another woman named Comfort Alege was also abducted in her house located along 500 housing unit in Lokoja, adding that till date the woman who was a former special adviser to former Governor Yahaya Bello still remain in kidnappers den.


“In a video trending on social media, Comfort Alege was seen begging the Kogi APC woman leader to come to her rescue in the hands of the abductors.


“Residents of Lokoja are no longer safe in their houses. Just two weeks ago, several people were abducted from their houses at Felele community also in  Lokoja, aside criminal elements that have been terrorising the area,” he stated.


Speaking further, Mallam Adamu, also  stated that on Thursday last week, a lawmaker representing Yagba West in the Kogi state House of Assembly, Hon. Idowu Ibikunle, cried out over the kidnap of one of his constituent identified as Bukola Awo in Ejiba area of the state.

He said the kidnappers were demanding for N20 million to release the innocent girl,  adding that all efforts by the security agent to  secure her release proved abortive as their hideout still remained unknown.
