NIDCOM boss lauds Amb Smaila over George House recognition

Chairman/CEO Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated Nigeria’s Consul-General

in Atlanta Georgia, Amb. Amina Smaila, over her recognition and commendation by the House of Representatives of the State of Georgia, the first-ever recognition of an African diplomat in its 247-year history.

A press statement by the NIDCOM Director, Media, Public Relations and Protocols, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, in Abuja, stated that: “In the congratulatory message, Dabiri-Erewa described Smaila as an exceptional and distinguished Nigerian diplomat with deep concerns for

fellow citizens.

“The NIDCOM boss said she was not surprised about the well-deserved honour done to Smaila going by her pedigree as an outstanding and intelligent public servant with exceptional service in the Nigeria foreign service for over two decades.

“She urged her to continue to do more for humanity and serve as

inspiration to others coming behind her as the recognition by the  House of Representatives of Georgia was unique and historical.”

The spokesperson noted that, “In the Resolution 647 moved by Rep. Okoye,  of the 102nd District, the House resolved to recognise Amb. Amina Smaila “for her efficient, effective,  unselfish and dedicated public service and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.”

He furyejr stated that, “At the recognition ceremony in the parliament on Friday,  Amb. Smaila and all Nigerian-American State Representatives  were in attendance.”
