Newly appointed General Manager of the Pyramid Radio FM, Alhaji Samaila Ahamed Dabai, has said that maintaining high professional standard and absolutely neutrality would be the corner stone of his administration, for effective Radio journalism to move forward.
Addressing staff of the Station shortly after assuming office yesterday, Dabai said he would also lend credence to “staff discipline, professionalism and productivity for the Station to have a clear sense of belonging in the face of high expectations under the present democratic dispensation.”
He said for effective radio journalism to be feasible and credible under the present democratic dispensation, the “issue of absolute neutrality and impartiality must take precedence for a level-playing field to be accorded to every individual and all shades of political opinion irrespective of one’s ideological learning,” stressing that the Station was poised to move forward “if it remains an impartial arbiter.”
He said indiscipline would be a bad omen to the quest for maintaining the credibility known for the Station since its inception, affirming that the issue of staff motivation and rewarding excellence would remain his major cardinal objective expressing optimism that with the calibre of personalities leading the Federal Radio Nigeria Corporation (FRCN), FM stations under its tutelage would wax stronger.
He called on the staff to be fully alive to their assigned responsibility in order to justify their stewardship as ones working for the federal government, stressing that with indiscipline and gross negligence of duty, the aim would be defeated.
