Need for real change in Kaduna, By Musa Musawa

As we approach another democratic dispensation whereby the people are given chance of exercising their franchise with the people of Kaduna state not being an exception, there is an urgent need to educate and enlighten our people on the need to lookout for only leaders who are fully equipped to fight the symmetric and asymmetric warfare of the people.
One of such leaders, who is well prepared to fight this social and intellectual warfare of his people, is Hon.
Mohammed Isa Ashiru.
The people of Kaduna state fought for change and whether it is this type of change as represented by the present leadership is basically open to debate.
Today every discerning citizen of Kaduna state will agree with me that this government epitomizes what is now known as the elitist change.
There is a deceptive contraption among the elite which the people must carefully recognize and weed out among these change advocates who seem to take advantage of the people’s seemingly unproven ignorance.
Isa Ashiru seems to know his people too well that among the plethora of aspirants seeking the people’s mandate to lead them he understands firsthand the yearnings of his people.
Typically, over the years he has been the chief advocate and canvasser for a new type of Change and Politics in Kaduna state that takes into cognizance the aspiration, yearnings, needs and above all the developmental needs of his people.
Ashiru lives with them, he understands them and because he understands them he has developed a methodological policy to systematically and gradually solve the problems of his people.
And because the people know a good leader when they see one his policy has catapulted him into the political lexicon of his people for the 2019 general elections.
No wonder he is the envy of all aspirants and the new hope for his deprived people.
Isa Ashiru has seen it all in Kaduna politics.
Since his school days as a political activist he has advocated a type of politics that takes into account only the welfare of his people.
He has served as a two-term member of the state House of Assembly and was a member of the House of Representatives which he used as a launching pad to advocate the social welfare and the development of his people in its totality.
He has not sought self-actualization to the detriment of his people rather he is among the very few politicians in Nigeria who are ideologically based for the sake of his people.
On the advent of the last election after he lost the previous gubernatorial election due to the reality of the time known to all, he decided to pitch tents with like minds to deny self and fight the fight of the people.
He denied himself altruistically based on the need for sacrifices to be made at that time to fight a common enemy ready to dehumanize the people of Kaduna state.
He merged his resources and energy into the axis of good for the sake of Kaduna people which eventually led to the victory of Mallam Nasir el-Rufai as the governor of the state.
Today in Kaduna state a genuine political intention has given rise to a leadership contraption against the people and the people once again have real political opportunists in lion’s garb once again in power to debase the people politically and economically.
Having noticed once again, as an experienced political strategist, that this is not what the people voted for due to the policy summersault and deceit of this government, he joined like minds within the APC to form the AKIDA Group to pressurize the incumbent governor to jettison some of his anti people policies, which have caused so much hardship to the people to no avail.
The problems that attenuated and precipitated the crisis within the APC in Kaduna state are varied.
The governor, who was elected to do the bidding of a party, controverted the people’s will to serve his self serving interest.
But the AKIDA group, to which Ashiru belongs, decided to advise the governor to return to the manifesto of the party which prioritizes the welfare of the people and this plea fell on deaf ears.
This made Ashiru and his like minds to recently decamp en mass to the PDP in Kaduna state to look for political space to take over the state and do the bidding of his only known political godfather – the people.
Ashiru believes absolutely in people’s power and he believes in the sanctity of democratic ethos and tenets.
Ashiru believes that because power emanates from the will of the people the well being of the people should be the paramount concern to any leader elected by the people.
The difference between Ashiru and others is the fact that power must be intelligently applied only for the benefit of those it emanates from – the people.
The new thinking by this political gladiator is that it is time for a new type of politics in Kaduna state.
The policies as enunciated by any leader must always be to the advantage of the people.
This proponent of the new type of politics in Kaduna state is well prepared for leadership as he has undergone the basic political tutelage required of a leader.
Ashiru has vowed to actualize the pragmatic visions of the founding father of this state for the good governance, security and welfare of the people.
He believes he has enough knowledge and capabilities to put the state back on track to the journey of development.
Just like the Americans say it is the economy, Ashiru says it is about the Kaduna people.
The economy of Kaduna state must be revived to mitigate the bitter pills which our people were forced to swallow in recent times due to our over reliance on oil revenue dominated federal allocations.
We must diversify our economy now to match the challenge of our dynamic environment.
The rich and privileged among us must brace up to the upliftment of the many of our underprivileged brothers and sisters by investing with the government in critical infrastructure to make our state great.
This promise Ashiru always assures one can take as currency to the market.
