NDIC pays N116.258bn to depositors, creditors of banks in-liquidation

The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has made cumulative payment amounting to N116.258 billion to depositors, creditor and shareholders of liquidated bank as at 2018 financial year.

The breakdown according to the corporation include the payments of insured and uninsured deposits of N108.641 billion, N2.973 billion and N70.53 million paid to depositors of defunct deposit money banks, Microfinance banks (MFBs) and Primary Mortgage Institutions (PMBs) respectively.

The Corporation also said it has made payment of N1.272 billion to creditors and N3.30 billion to shareholders of banks in liquidation.

The NDIC report showed that in 2018 the corporation paid N89.24 million to insures deposits to 1804 depositors of MFBs in liquidation compared to 173 depositors of closed MFBs and N13.24 million paid in 2017.
