Zamfara youth write Tinubu, DSS demand withdrawal security from suspended lawmaker

Concerned youths of Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency have written to President Bola Tinubu and the Department of State Security Service demanding withdrawal of security attached to the suspended House of Representatives member, Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji, over alleged connections with bandits in Zamfara State.

This call was contained in a letter of protest written to President Bola Tinubu, jointly signed by the group Chairman, Zaharaaddeen Dahiru Usman, and its Secretary, Ibrahim Muhammad, and shared with journalists on Tuesday.

Other signatories include: Nafiu Lawali, Sarki Mafara Sarki Baura Ward; Shafi’u Ahmad Dan Galadina Ward; Ibrahim Muhammad Gabake Ward; Auwal İbrahim, Kungurki Ward; Abdulaziz Ibrahim, Representing Yan Kaba Ward; Ibrahim Abdullahi, Kurya Madaro Ward; Yusuf Mohammad, Banga Ward; Iliyasu Umar, Sakajiki Ward; Sani Dahiru, Representing Dan Isah Ward; Ashiru Usman, Kyambarawa Ward; Isyaku Bala, Kagara Ward; Aminu Halilu, Representing Birni Magaji Ward; Yakubu Aminu, Modomawa West; Aminu Yusuf, Modomawa East.

Muhammad Haruna, Godal West; Abubakar Muhammad, Danfami Sabon Birni Ward; Mustapha Dahiru, Representing Kiyawa Ward; Naziru Idris, Gusami Gari Gusami Hayi; Babangida Ibrahim, Representing Godal East; Aliyu Umar, Representing Gora Ward; Kabiru Mohammad, Nasarawa Mai Layi.

According to the statement, the recall is necessary due to a loss of confidence, zero performance, and alleged romanticization with bandit elements.

The statement reads in part: “We, as law-abiding and well-meaning Nigerians of Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency of Zamfara State, write to your good office to bring to your notice the underlying antics and ills of Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji, which border on national security issues for romanticizing with bandit elements to score political gains.

“It is against this background that we hereby move a motion for the initiation of recall processes against Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji, Member Representing Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.

“You may recall, Your Excellency, that our party, the All Progressive Congress (APC), expelled the above Honourable Member on the grounds of national security issues and anti-party activities.

“Most notably, due to some unholy atrocities committed by his political godsons who were recently uncovered to be notable bandits and accomplices, including Hon. Hali Sidi, who is under investigation by the Nigerian Police for activities involving leadership of the terrorist group terrorizing Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji and environs.

“Also, Hon. Aminu Ibrahim Kasuwar Daji, presently a member of the Zamfara State House of Assembly representing Kaura Namoda West, is under investigation by the Nigerian Police and still in custody. He has equally been identified as the mastermind behind a series of bandit attacks within Zamfara State.

“It is worthy to note, therefore, that the above-mentioned Hon. Hali Sidi and Hon. Aminu Ibrahim Kasuwar Daji, among others, are the machineries used by Jaji to perpetuate political uprisings, thereby terrorizing innocent citizens.

“This includes Jaji’s antics to disrupt political processes in four wards of Birnin Magaji Local Government, where he hails from, during the 2023 General Election.

“It is noteworthy that Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji, as a sympathizer and major financier, has never raised any observation against the insecurity bedeviling Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji in particular and Zamfara in general on the floor of the National Assembly, which poses a great sense of suspicion that Jaji is a beneficiary of these ungodly activities by enemies of the state.

“Lastly, we bring to your notice and appeal to your good office to order the withdrawal of officers of the Department of State Service (DSS) who have become bulldogs of Jaji in hundreds.

“Such blatant abuse of office by the DSS, for reasons only God knows, is compounded by the fact that Jaji is allegedly the major contractor and supplier of vehicles and other supplies to the DSS, which is against the provision of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that clearly states an elected official has no business doing contracts.

“Therefore, based on the foregoing, we appeal to your good office to act on our petition and order a thorough probe.”
