NASS leadership: Northern legislators must stand against imposition –APC chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, and a prominent political associate of President Muhammadu Buhari  Alhaji Abdulmajid Danbilki  Commander has said the northern part of the country would not be used as a launch-pad for waging a propaganda war by  Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the wake of the current struggle for the leadership of the National Assembly.

Speaking to news men in Kano Tuesday, commander stated that APC being the ruling party in the country is almost on the precipice, as a result of what he alleged as Tinubu’s crafty design to stamp his imprimatur against the wish of prominent card carrying member of the party, who had a different perception of how the NASS leadership should be formed.

According to him, it would be a costly mistake for members of the party serving in the National Assembly to allow themselves to be used by one single person claiming to be the alpha and omega of the party.

He said:” with what people are hearing from them as regards reaching a consensus on the issue of agreeing to field Senator Ahamed Lawan and Gbajabiamila, to me is a cruel hoax. The northern part of the country is politically potent to discern what is propaganda and the real truth. The region is politically polished and civilized right from the hey days of first, second and third republic up till this time.

“What we want avoid at present, is falling into a booby trap. Nobody would be deceived    that the President is 100% behind the imposition of Senator Ahamed Lawan as the 9th Senate President. Tinubu’ is only using the controversy as a trump card to influence the decision of those he believed are ready to dance to his manipulative tendency” he added.

“One can clearly read between the lines that he is craftily paving the way for him to dominate the political landscape of the nation in the year2023 in order to become the next President. we are matured enough to sift the grain from the chaff. We are ready to oppose any move aimed at ruling the National Assembly by fiat” he remarked.

“Even the issue of zoning the Presidency as bandied about by Tinubu and his cronies to me, is unconstitutional, because the will of the majority would be suppressed and their constitutional power usurped. The north would never allow itself to be used as a pawn in the hands of those who viewed the issue of leadership within the prism of their whimsical interest” he said.
