NASFAT, SMEDAN partner on entrepreneurship skills

In its efforts to address the economic growth and stability of its members, Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fathi Society (NASFAT) in collaboration with Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) have trained its members on entrepreneurship skills and accounting development.

The three days training focused on business plan development, marketing techniques, business registration and legal matters including tips on accessing finance for small businesses and identification of business opportunities.

The acting secretary NASFAT economic empowerment committee, Tajudeen Abdullahi said, the training became necessary following its post empowerment evaluation of some of its trained and empowered members businesses in recent times.

He said the committee discovered that many of the trainees businesses were not performing optimally. Hence, the need for further business orientation.

He said several training on catering, poultry and fish farming amongst other have been given to it members with an assurance that more training will be initiated.

He urged the participants to take the trainings seriously for their own good.

One of the representatives from SMEDAN, Mr Shuaib Haruna said the training is focused on enabling participants learn the process of making wise financial and investment decisions that will lead to financial stability.

He said, money is scarce commodity, hence the need to guide it jealousy.

One of the participants Olapade Mariam, said she has  “learnt about business ethics, the owner personality” and a lot about loan “because most of us are not being oriented on loan, we only know that government and different banks give loans but accessibility is difficult especially for the people like us at the grassroots.

She stated that, “I make bags; people say my products are nice but no money no finance. So, we beg government to give us loan without interest, the one that can be halal for us as Muslims.”

Another participant, Hassan AbdulKareem Olayinka said, “So far, i have learnt how to access loan. We have been made to understand that even from our family, friends, relatives and even banks we can get loan when we get a good business plan and business structure.

“Though I’m just starting with a business plan, with this three days training i have gathered some momentum which have actually trigger me to commence my investment starting from registration of my company and all the preliminary,” he said.
