Nasarawa poly matriculates 3,185 students, urges them to be security conscious

The Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa (FPN) has over the weekend matriculated 3,185 students, comprising of 2,585 National Diploma (ND) and 600 Higher National Diploma (HND).

Speaking at 36th matriculation ceremony, the Rector, Abdullahi Ahmed, urged the students to be security conscious at all times and be law-abiding members of the community to ensure peaceful atmosphere, conducive for teaching and learning.

He noted that security had become an issue of serious concern all over the country, assuring that the management of the institution would never relent in curtailing the menace of insecurity.

Ahmed who emphasised that the management would continue to prioritise security provisions for students, adding that all necessary measures had been put in place to ensure their safety in the institution.

He disclosed that the Polytechnic had agile and experienced security personnel all around the school community that monitor students movements and interactions, without their knowledge.

The rector also revealed that management was embarking on many projects like the construction and upgrading of students’ hostels, perimeter fencing, street lights, among others, all to ensure that they are fully protected.

He said: ” We are also setting out new policies that will make it easier to identify ourselves, as members of one big family.

” These include the new dress code and timely provision of Identity Cards for both staff and students.

” It will become mandatory for everyone, both staff and students, to have our Identity cards conspicuously displayed on our persons once on campus. I pray for your cooperation in this, please,”

The rector also warned all students that the institution would not tolerate any act of indiscipline, social vices, cultism, drug abuse, indecent dresses, examination malpractices, and others.

Ahmed, therefore, advised the students to face studies with all the seriousness it deserves so that you could successfully achieve their set goals.

According to him, most of the programmes of the polytechnic were either accredited and or re-accredited during the 2018 and 2019 academic session.

” Also plans has reach advance stage for the hosting of the 10th convocation ceremony of the institution.

” Also, some of our students participated in a series of scholarly and sporting competitions and won medals for our great Polytechnic, the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, our pride, our honour,” Ahmed said.

Speaking on behalf of the matriculating students, Ms Sarah Joseph, HND Business Administration, expressed commitment to abide by the rules and regulations of the institution.
