Mining, quarrying sector records 14.85% growth in Q1– NBS

The Nigeria mining and quarrying sector has grown by 14.85% from 10.7% in Q4 2017, and 22.64% in Q3 2017.
According to the first quarter GDP report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the growth in the mining and quarrying sector growth is a clear indication of better days for the Nigerian mining industry which is experiencing a sustained improvement in its contribution to the national economy.
Recall that the solid minerals and agriculture are the priority sectors for economic recovery set by the federal government.
Other figures also indicate that Nigeria solid minerals exports in 2017 grew 565% above the value in 2016, Agriculture exports grew 180.7% above the value in 2016, while raw material exports grew 154.2% above the value in 2016. Also exports of manufactured goods grew 26.8% above 2016.
