Man ‘kills friend testing charm’

Pandemonium broke weekend at the Oba Market, Benin City, when a 25-year-old man identified as Osamame Isekhuere (alias Black Arrow) was shot dead by his friend.
Blueprint gathered that the deceased came to his untimely end while testing the efficacy of a protective charm popularly known as ‘Africa insurance’ with a friend whose identity was yet to be ascertained as at the time of going to press.
The shooting reportedly caused confusion at the market, with youths protesting the killing and forcing many traders to hurriedly lock up their stores and abandoning the vicinity.

Eye witness account has it that Isekhuere had asked one of his friends to shoot him to test a new charm he had just acquired against bullets; this was after the deceased had first shot at the friend with live bullets and did not penetrate.
However, when the friend shot Isekhuere on the chest, the charm failed and bullets pierced through his body, leading to his death and his other friends as well as angry youth in the area, torching the rented apartment where the said friend who shot him lives.
When contacted, Edo state Police Command spokesman, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Uwoh Noble, said he was yet to be briefed on the matter.
