Lecturer petitions AIG over threat to life

A university lecturer, Dr Isaac Fadeyibi, has petitioned the Assistance Inspector General of Police, Zone XI, Osogbo over alleged threat to his life by some unknown persons.

Fadeyibi, a senior lecturer at Fountain University, Osogbo, made the allegation in a petition dated 26th March, received in AIG’s office on 28th March, 2019, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent on Sunday.

He alleged that members of an unnamed group had repeatedly issued death threat on him and members of his family, adding that his house had also came under violent attacks three times.

He said on the 14th of February, 2014, some people believed to be armed robbers, attacked his house at Adedapo Estate, Halleluyah Area, Osogbo, and carted away properties worth N500, 000.

He said the attack was reported at Dada Estate Police station, Osogbo, but all efforts by the police to unmask the perpetrators yielded no positive result.

The petition reads in parts, “the second time my building was burgled on the 16th September, 2015, where my laptop that contained my thesis write-up, course materials, documents and other valuables were carted away.

“The third incident occurred on the 9th October, 2017, where property worth over N35, 000 were carted away. Though, a suspect was arrested after reporting at Dada Estate Police station, the suspect was later released. All these cases of burglary that were made on my building had since created phobia in the family.”

The university lecturer, who said a more dangerous dimension to the violent attack on him and his family surfaced in February, 2018 when he started receiving letters from an unknown group, warning of threat to his life and those of his family members.

“The letter, I guess was slipped through the window louvers into my office. I never took it seriously because it came just four weeks after the completion of my PhD degree programme. There was second letter.

A top security source in Zone XI command, who pleaded not to be named, said the petition is already receiving attention.
