Lawmaker asks contractor to return to site

The member representing Obudu constituency in the Cross River state House of Assembly, Stephen Okpukpen, has urged the contractor handling the renovation of the primary school in Bedia village and the building of a new classroom block and toilet to go back to site with his workers.
He said “even without mobilisation I will ensure that the design of these buildings are commissioned and the construction of toilets for the staff and pupils commenced.”
According to him, as a representative of Obudu constituency and also from Bedia village where the project is sited, he will be passionate about the job to see that it is completed in the shortest time possible.
“Because of the terrain, I personally supervised the uprooting of over ten trees to get space for the building of the structure that was almost encroaching into a ravine. Since I was directly supervising the project, people should ignore those peddling false information that the project had been abandoned.
“I urge those peddling such rumors to stop hate speeches and be a little patient as the job will be completed soon; the SUBEB, the State Universal Education Basic Board, responsible for disbursing the funds will not compromise its integrity to make full payments for an abandoned project,” he said.
He further stated that there was no stage in the process of the award of the project that was compromised “because this can be proven by the structural audit that is part of my job evaluation.”
