Kuje, Abaji flag bearers absolve selves of rift in APC

The flag bearer of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kuje Area Council, Alhaji Hamidu Sarki Dobi has denied allegations that he instigated the rift in the party which led to the suspension of the caretaker chairman by 10 ward chairmen last week.

Speaking in an interview, Saturday, Hamidu said: “I want to make it categorically clear that even as the candidate of the party, I do not have the power to move any motion. I use this opportunity to make it clear to the world that I have no hand in the suspension of anybody. People should be bold enough to carry their problems on their shoulders like strong men instead of pointing accusing fingers at others.
“Since after the congress, I have tried my best to reach out to people both in our party and even members of the opposition, including those who contested with me, so that we can collectively build up the party. So, there is no way that I can instigate any crisis in the party.
“What happened was that a decision was taken by the executive of the party to suspend the chairman. The meeting where the decision was taken was called by the local and state executive, not me.

“I have not instigated anybody or the unrest in the APC. Whoever is accusing me should provide proof as evidence. The suspended chairman even refused to attend meetings convened by the executive and now he is looking for people to blame for his problems,” Hamidu said.

Another flag bearer of the APC in Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Mahammadu Angulu Loko, who is also facing serious opposition and problems over his election, expressed concerns over the high level of protests from APC members on his victory.
Mahammadu Augulu in an interview with Blueprint in Abaji criticised the present crop of youthful politicians for being too ambitious to grab power and material possessions without waiting to learn the art of politicking from experienced and established politicians.
He wondered why the new breed politicians, who have just picked interest in politics, would think that the best approach to succeed in the game is to fight older politicians that know the intrigues better having practiced politics for several years.

Angulu urged the youths to be patient and learn to grow through their mistakes in politics stressing that no child can ever hope to run without first learning to crawl.
He hoped that the reconciliation committee set-up by the executive of the party will be able to resolve the grievances of members by ensuring that those threatening to leave the APC are pacified to stay and make the party stronger before the 2022 FCT elections.
