Kogi poll: Group tasks traditional rulers on peace, unity

Ahead of the November 11, 2023 governorship election in Kogi state, a group, Ebira Dialogue Group, has charged traditional rulers to play their role of ensuring a peaceful election in Ebira land.

The group, which comprises professors and the elite of Ebira extraction from across the country, stated that they were in Kogi central to declare their support for the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo.

Speaking Friday at the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebira land, Dr. Ado Ibrahim, to kick start its sensitisation and mobilisation tour across Kogi central senatorial district, the leader, Professor Isah Jimoh, said their mission “is to complement the monarch’s untiring efforts in ensuring that peace, unity, and progress reign in the district, especially as it affects the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.”

He described the candidacy of Alhaji Ododo as “a renewed hope for the entire Kogi state” and assured that he (Ododo) would consolidate on the numerous achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration, especially in the areas of education, health, and infrastructure development.

The Ohinoyi in his remarks thanked the group for the visit, love and commitment to their father land and called for adequate sensitisation across the state before the conduct of the election.

In his vote of thanks, on behalf of the group, Prof. Ododo assured the monarch of their preparedness to queue behind him in his efforts to ensure peace, unity and progress in the land.
