Kogi lawmaker empowers 100 youth, women on PoS business

The lawmaker representing Okene Ogori-Magongo Federal constituency, Ahmed Tijani Damisa, has trained and empowered 100 youth and women in his constituency to enable them to have sources of livelihood through PoS business.

Declaring the programme open at Ebira Muslim Community College, Okengwe, in Okene local government area of Kogi state on Friday, a representative of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Ayinla Oloruntoba, said the “way to eradicate youth restiveness and other social vices in society is through viable empowerment that can create sources of livelihood to the people.”

He, therefore, called on well-meaning individuals to assist the less privileged through viable empowerments that would improve their standard of living.

The guest speaker, Mr. Seyi Adesina, in a paper presentation entitled, “Payment Platform and Skills Employment with Point of sales Terminal (POS),” urged the participants to beware of fraudsters on any transaction, stressing that the PoS business needed proper attention and response to customers.

In his remarks, the lawmaker, represented by Alhaji Mohammed Obongara, appealed to the participants to put into use the knowledge acquired to judiciously utilise the PoS machine and the little funds made available in order to boost their businesses.
