Act righteously, JIBWIS urges politicians

The chairman, Council of Ulama, Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’Ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, has called on Nigerians to join politics, but to act righteously.

Sheikh Jingir made the call on Friday at the opening of the JIBWIS 30th National Annual Seminar themed: “Electing righteous people of integrity is the basis of a successful society,” being held at its Science Secondary School, Zaria Road, Jos.

“Politics is a relative term; if you are single and later given a wife, you now become a politician in your home. So, everyone is a politician and is expected to act righteously,” he said.

According to the guest speaker at the event, Senator Lawal Yahaya Gumau, politicians are betrayers and liars.

“As politicians, we are only rancour promoters; betrayals and breach of trust are our characters. Politicians don’t have people, but religious leaders have the people and help us to win elections,” he said.

He said further that, “If you are thinking of becoming a politician to satisfy your selfish aims, then you get it right; this is because that will lead you to hell fire.

“But when you think of joining politics with the thoughts of doing things for the benefit of the people, then Allah will help you and at the end you will get the reward of paradise.”
