Kidnapping: MSA to FG: Fulfill your responsibility to Abuja residents, others

Following the spate of Kidnapping in the Federal Capital Territory, the members of the Movement for a Socialist Alternative (MSA) has called on the Federal Government to fulfill its primary responsibility of safeguarding the lives and properties of Nigerians.

Recently, residents of the FCT woke up to hear that 23 persons were abducted by bandits in Abuja, the capital territory of Nigeria.

According to the news report, “Bandits said to number around 40 stormed the Kawu community in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory on Thursday and abducted 23 people.”

The spokesperson of the Movement, Akande Daniel said this incident has sparked deep concern among members of the MSA in Abuja, who question the safety of citizens in a city that is meant to be a perfect example of quality security and stability.

The news of this incident came in less than five (5) days where 11 persons were reportedly kidnapped in the Sagwari Estate Layout, in the Dutse-Alhaji area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, after gunmen reportedly dressed as military men, invaded the community.

“Abuja, being the seat of the Nigerian government, is a symbolic representation of the nation’s strength and resilience. If such a prominent location is not immune to the menace of criminal activities, it raises profound questions about the overall safety and security of the country.

“The MSA members express their unease, emphasizing that if Abuja is not safe, it begs the question: where else could be? In the wake of this incident, the MSA strongly asserts that there is no haven under capitalism.

“The current system, they argue, prioritizes the interests of the ruling class over the safety and well-being of ordinary Nigerians.

“The MSA contends that the capitalist establishment, driven by greed and self-interest, neglects the fundamental duty of ensuring the safety of the working class.

“This incident highlights the urgent need for a paradigm shift where the working class takes up the battle for its liberation. The MSA advocates for the organization of workers as a class, emphasizing their responsibility to utilize the resources they create to improve their circumstances and protect fellow members of their class.

“In the face of adversity, the MSA calls on the working class to unite and challenge the existing capitalist structures that fail to prioritize the safety and welfare of ordinary Nigerians by organizing themselves and collectively striving for a system that places the interests of the working class at the forefront, the MSA believes that true progress and security can be achieved, ensuring a safer and more just society for all,” he said.
