The Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC) yesterday held the technical commissioning of the Nigerian Air Force Base injection sub-station, constructed by Niger Delta Power Holding Company.
Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of KEDC, Alhaji  Idris Mohammed said during a technical committee inspection visit to NAF Base, Mothercat and Ungwan Baro old sub-stations yesterday in Kaduna, that power will be available in Kaduna and Zaria 24 hours real time as soon as the Mothercat, Ungwan Dosa and NAF Base sub-stations are fully commissioned.
Governor Mukhtar Yero of Kaduna state is expected to officially commission all the power projects handled by Niger Delta Power Holding Company.
The MD while fielding question said the purpose of the additional injection sub-station project is to improve power supply to the Air Force Base and environs. While that of Mothercat, is to reduce the network load on Mando area and the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) area.
“Hopefully within the next few days, we will begin to get impact report on the NAF Base project,” Mohammed said while assuring that within the next one week, the Mothercat injection sub-station will also be ready for technical commissioning.
“The purpose will not be far-fetched, the federal government has already promised that power will be available to Nigerians and in Kaduna we are setting the pace and we believe that when we commission these projects, including that of Ungwan Dosa, I can tell you that, power will be available in Kaduna and Zaria 24 hours real time,” he added.
He stated that, the company will continue to give safety optimal priority in its quest to deliver 24 hour power supply to the zone.
