Kebbi: Gov Idris donates cash, food to wives of fallen heroes l

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi state Monday commended ex-servicemen for their courage, valour and sacrifice in and outside the shores of Nigeria to bring peace to humanity.

In an emotion laden voice, Governor Idris also donated N20 million to the widows of the fallen heroes, 100 bags of assorted grains and two cows to them.

Furthermore, officers and men of the 1 Battalion Nigerian Army, Dukku Barracks, Birnin Kebbi, would receive N20 million with similar amount going to Youth Corp members, NYSC in Kebbi state.

Dr. Nasir Idris expressed deep sympathy with the widows of the departed soldiers, saying he shared their pain and sadness.

He mandated the SSG to look into promises made to the widows by previous administrations but not fulfilled, and forward the file to him for necessary action.

The chairperson of the Widows Association, 1 Battalion, Birnin Kebbi, Hajiya Asama’u Kanoma, amidst tears, solicited the assistance of the governor for the widows and their children to bring succour to families of the fallen heroes.

Governor Nasir Idris laid wreath in honour of the departed soldiers and monitored the medical outreach organised for legionnaires by the medical section of the battalion.

A twenty one gun salute was fired by troops in honour of the fallen heroes while the governor released pigeons as symbol of peace.
