Kano NDLEA raids drug hubs, arrests 250 addicts

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano state has said it had dislodged 45 drugs’ hubs and arrested 250 addicts across the state in February.

The NDLEA commander in Kano, Dr. Ibrahim Abdul, stated this while briefing newsmen in Kano on Friday on the activities of the command under review.

“We were able to arrest 250 drug addicts with different types of drugs among which are canavis sativa, heroin, and cocaine,” the NDLEA commander said.

The commander said as a result of their tireless efforts in fight against drug abuse, illicit drugs like tramadol and cough syrup with codeine “are nowhere to be found in the state.”

He advised politicians to avoid any act capable of misguiding the youth into using drugs, engaging in political thuggery and other criminal activities.

He said some political icons in the state were in the habit of using there premises to commit drug offences and that “it is a violation of the NDLEA Act.”

Abdul said the command had arrested some youths with drugs in some politicians’ premises and that the politicians were invited by the NDLEA and were facing investigation.

He advised the general public to be law-abiding “as nobody is above the law,” and that anyone found wanting in terms of drug abuse and other related offences “will not be allowed to go free.”
