Kano government ready to end TB – Labaran 

The Kano state government in collaboration with its partners has  shown determination towards reducing the burden and transmission of tuberculosis in the state.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, stated this during the press conference on the commemoration of 2024 world TB Day, Saturday. 

He said, the theme for this year is ” yes we can end TB” while the slogan is “No gree for TB, check am O.”

It is in line with Kano state government’s effort to end the disease in the state.

“Our 2022 TB burden base on national data stood at 39,420 cases and we were able to notify and treat 39,843 patients which is highest ever notification by any state in Nigeria,” the commissioner said.

Dr. Abubakar Yusuf pointed out that Kano state government is up and doing to end the disease through approval and release of the state TB and Leprosy counterpart funds for various interventions in control of the disease in the state, deployment of 20 number of Portable Digital X-ray machines with Artificial Intelligence from Minister of Health formally handed over to Kano state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for diagnosis of TB and other diseases.

“We’re also expanding the LF LAM testing platform for quick TB diagnosis among HIV infected parsons in the state in addition of massive contact tracing and TB preventive therapy called TPT, including during the national TB testing week.”
