Kaduna to tap from NITT’s expertise

Kaduna state government has assured of tapping from Nigeria Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) Zaria’s expertise in the areas of training, entrepreneurship and consultancy.
The state governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, disclosed this when he received the Institution’s management led by its Director General, Dr Aminu Musa Yusuf, who paid him a courtesy  call  at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House recently.
A statement by the Institute’s assistant director,  Public Relations, Mr Paul Ai Msheliza, quoted  El-Rufai of saying that his government would work hard to restore the glory of the state.

It added that already 200 yellow taxis had recently been launched to improve transportation in the state, noting further that thousands more would soon be commissioned, not just for the state capital, but Zaria and Kafanchan.
The governor said that there was need for collaboration between his government and the Institute in areas of training and certification of the next batch of drivers recruited to man the states ‘Yellow Cabs Scheme’.
He informed the management on the progress of the survey on light rail and tram way which he recently flagged-off, as well as the engagement of General Electric to establish a railway assembly plant in railway compound in Zaria due to its proximity to NITT.

According to the statement, the DG/CE Dr. Aminu Musa Yusuf congratulated the governor for his overwhelming victory at the polls as well as his excellent track records and laudable achievements since assumption of office.
It further stated that the DG briefed the governor on the core mandate of the Institute, which was to professionalise the transport sector in the country.
The statement also quoted him to  had outlined the Institute’s long and short-term programmes as well as it’ collaborations with several local and international organisations.
