Kaduna PDP upbeat as Jonathan storms North-west rally today

As Kaduna prepares to host President Goodluck Jonathan today for the North-west rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Kaduna state chapter of the party is upbeat as it may receive some political bigwigs that had defected from the party back to its fold.

Former National Assembly member, who also served as the chairman of Sabon Gari local government area, Hon. Mohammed Saleh Annur, told newsmen yesterday in Kaduna that many top politicians, who had earlier left the PDP for other parties, had indicated readiness to return to the party.

He said: “I want to assure you that there are many top members of our great party that left few months ago, but because they are now satisfied with the leadership of the party, they are ready to come back and they have told some of us that they are returning home to PDP.

“Many of those that left the party recently did so as result of some internal problems, now that we have a new leadership at the national level, the party is becoming stronger and many of our members both those that decamped and those that wanted to follow them out have now realised that PDP is the only party that guarantees them democracy and freedom.”

Kaduna is agog for the arrival of President Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo and other party leaders, as well as thousands of party faithful from the North-west zone and indeed from other parts of the North.
Blueprint observed that most hotels in Kaduna had been overbooked, while commercial activities in the city peaked as result of influx of supporters of the PDP for the rally.
