A Jigawa High Court has sentenced a 25-year-old Sani Isa, alias Sani Dogo, of Zarenawa village in Birnin Kudu local government to 15 years imprisonment for raping a 9-year-old girl.
Delivering the judgment, Justice Ubali Ahmad Taura, said the accused
admitted committing the offense with the girl last year at Zarena village.
According to the judge, the offense was contrary to section 282 (1)of the penal code law of Jigawa state, adding that having admitted committing the offense, Isa must face the law.
Justice UbaleTaura during judgment, said the five witnesses that testified in the court, confirmed that Sani Dogo raped the under aged girl, an offense which is punishable under section 283 of the penal court.
However, one of the family members of the defiled teenager, who pleaded not to be mentioned, said he was happy with the judgement, saying the rapist was convicted for his wicked act.
He, therefore, called on parents of rape victims in the state to take their grievances to the court of law and seek redress.
