Chairman of Jema’a local government area, Comrade Yunana Markus Barde, has presented awards to two staff of the local government who have distinguished themselves in providing selfless service in their field of endeavors.
The award was presented to the best Primary School Teacher, which was a posthumous award to late Nuruddeen Abubakar, was presented to his wife, and also an award to the best health worker in the local government given to Mr. Duchi Handan Luka.
The awards were presented by the chairman, at the local government chamber during the council’s Fiscal, Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability town hall meeting in Kafanchan.
He said since coming into office in 2021, he has worked to ensure education was adequately and properly provided for children as it was the bedrock of development in any society.
He said he was keen on changing the negative narrative hitherto associated with basic education in the council.
The council boss noted that the era of non-implementation of promotion of teachers in the council was over.
“Before I came on board, teachers would get promoted and that promotion ends on paper, without implementation.
“We have now taken care of that issue as over 230 teachers have had their promotions implemented in 2023 alone,” he stated.
