Investors stake N3.757bn on shares

Lagos Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday took an upward trend as investors traded 320.341 million shares worth N3.757 billion in 5005 deals. This is against 254.148 million shares valued at N3.642 billion traded the previous day in 4270 deals.

The NSE  key  market indicators  improved by 0.46 per cent as  the market capitalisation of listed equities increased by N55 billion to N11.983 trillion from N11.928 trillion traded on Wednesday. Similarly,  the NSE All Share Index (ASI), grew by 172.00 basis point to 37308.60 point from 37136.60 point recorded the previous day.

A breakdown of the investment for the day showed that Mobil Oil Plc led the gainers table, appreciating by N3.86 kobo to close at N124.86 kobo, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) followed with a gain of N1.90 kobo to close at N25.00 while Oando Plc, Nigerian Breweries and FBN Holdings increased by N0.69 kobo, N0.50 kobo and N0.34 kobo respectively to close at N14.56 kobo, N146.00 and N11.99 kobo.

Conversely, Nestle Nigeria Plc topped losers chart, dropping by N9.20 kobo to close at N958.80 kobo, Cadbury Nigeria Plc trailed with a loss of  N7.40 kobo to close at N78.00 while Total depreciated by N5.00 to close at N148.00. Other stocks that recorded price depreciation were Guinness Nigeria Plc and UACN Plc  which dropped by N3.15 kobo and N3.10 kobo respectively to close at N165.00 and N58.90 kobo.
