We have put Ningi’s suspension behind us – Senate

Two months after slamming three months suspension on Senator Abdul Ningi (PDP Bauchi Central), the Senate declared on Wednesday in Abuja that it has put the action behind it.

Senator Ningi was on Tuesday, March 12,  2024, suspended for three months after he was made to face committee of the whole in plenary on alleged false accusation of 2024 budget padding by it.

Ningi before the suspension, sparked this sparked controversy when he alleged that the 2024 budget was padded by N3 trillion and that the country was operating two budgets concurrently, which he couldn’t defend when confronted at the committee of the whole.

Responding to question on the suspension which remains 21 days for Ningi to complete, the Spokesman of the Senate, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, said, “We have put Senator Ningi’s suspension behind us in the Senate.”

Adaramodu who responded to the question during presentation of a Magazine published by the 10th Senate to journalists, explained that, when Senator Ningi was suspended in March by the Senate, he was giving room to make proposal for variation of the decision, which he has not done.

“The suspension was a collective decision with caveat for the suspended Senator to seek for variation, which he has not done up till now.

“In any case, it was an internal matter treated and collectively decided upon before the full glare of the world.

“We have put that decision behind us,” he said.
